Do I need to make an appointment?
No. We have an open studio at all times. If you are bringing in a large group, we appreciate a heads up so we can try to set aside a large table. We do request advance notice to reserve the private party room. Please visit our Marvelous Mud page for information on our clay program.
Do I need to be artistic to paint pottery?
Absolutely not! We are all about easy at PBY. We have many tips and tricks to help you create beautiful and amazing pottery.
How much does it cost?
Each piece is individually priced. We have pottery starting at $4. We charge a 50% studio fee. So the studio fee is attached to the piece, not the person. For example, a standard mug is $12 plus a $6 studio fee plus tax. The average purchase is $20 - $25 dollars. Please visit our Marvelous Mud page for information on our clay program.
Can I bring food and drinks?
Both are welcome. You can even have food delivered. However, we do not recommend eating while painting. Greasy fingers will prevent the glaze from sticking.
Are the paints safe for kids? Do I need to bring an apron?
The paints are non-toxic, lead-free, and completely safe. They also completely wash out of clothing without pre-treating. We do have aprons.
Is the pottery safe to eat off of?
The paints are lead-free, and are completely safe to eat off of. Nothing is better than eating off of a plate that you have painted. Always brings a smile to my face!
How old do you need to be to paint?
We welcome all ages, really.
How long does it take?
It usually takes 2 hours to complete an average project.
What if I don't finish my project?
We will carefully wrap up your project in paper to take home with you. You are welcome to come back and finish anytime without any additional fees. We recommend this two-step process for handprint plates if you're with young children who can't sit still long enough for you to paint the whole piece.
How long does it take to get my project back.
One week. If it will take longer because of special circumstances, we will let you know. December is the exception. We cannot guarantee 1 week delivery in December. However, it typically only takes a week in December too and we call you when your pottery is ready to be picked up. Please visit our Marvelous Mud page for information on our clay program.
Will you call me when my project is ready?
No, we only call you if your project is done early.
Can I rush a piece?
We typically can rush a piece for a $10 fee.
What happens if I cannot pick up my piece when it is ready.
After approximately 1 month, we will start calling and reminding you to pick up. After 6 months, due to limited space, we will discard your pottery (or you might see it as a sample). If there are special circumstances that prevent a pick-up, please let us know.
Will you ship?
Yes, we will ship your project for an additional $5 fee plus actual cost of postage. A credit card payment is required. We are very careful with the packing, but are not responsible for damage in shipping. Please note that shipping may delay the delivery of the project.
Will you fire pieces not painted in your studio?
We are not able to fire pieces not purchased and painted in our studio.
Are you part of a national chain?
